The Research Unit
This research unit brings together the school’s activities and teaching around the concept of social innovation and the diversity of its forms of expression. In today’s unstable economic and social context, the emergence of the notion of social innovation invites us to rethink the modes of relationship and exchange between actors in society. Depending on the specificities of each specialisation (object and spatial design, graphic and digital design, design and culinary arts, art), the aim is to explore and understand the implications of this notion, which refers to:
“practices aimed at […] enabling an individual – or a group of individuals – to address a social need – or a set of needs – for which no satisfactory solution has been found elsewhere” (Chambon, David et Devevey, 1982, translated from french)
