Le chanvre, matière à transitions

Argument

A subject of research that is now shared by designers, engineers, agronomists, researchers in the humanities and social sciences, educational establishments, local authorities, associations and professionals in the sector, hemp is approached here in its current capacity and its potential for tomorrow to be a material for transitions. To this end, this book meets with the economic players who handle hemp and work to promote it, in its state as a plant, a transformed material, and as a consumable. It interviews researchers who study a specific part of its characteristics and fields of application. It shows how design students at the École supérieure d’art et de design de Reims take hold of the material to turn it into an object, by first designing tools and supports that reveal an entire ecosystem as a basis for understanding.

More generally, through the medium of hemp, this work contributes to thinking about the challenges of the transition ahead, from economic and social as well as political and environmental perspectives.
