Argument

A century after the First World War, the domain of war, like the universe, is expanding: new technologies, proliferation of images, unprecedented forms of violence, constantly shifting fronts and borders. War invades territories. It redraws the map. It extends the struggle. It marks the imagination, both geographical and human. This book makes two assumptions: this insistence on war says something about the reality of our civilisation; artists pave the way for us to understand it. Far from pious hopes, good intentions or warrior ideals, philosophy, psychoanalysis and contemporary art are at work here to address the phenomenon and examine the individual and social wounds. This work is the result of an exceptional collaboration between artists, philosophers and psychoanalysts.
