Julie Rothhahn

Teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in culinary design.

Julie Rothhahn’s approach to design starts with food. Gourmet and curious, she tastes everything to then dissect its meaning, open up avenues of reflection and bring to food a design that helps you digest, enjoy and escape. A graduate of ÉSAD in Reims, she won the 2009 Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris in the design section. As a designer, she looks at food as a material that can be modelled, staged and given meaning. Food then becomes sensitive, sometimes emotional, regressive, even transgressive. Her work as a designer takes on a variety of forms: collaborating with the food trade, craftspeople, the food industry and events.
